Welcome to our Nursery
Welcome to our Nursery page. Our positive Nursery ethos ensures all children, parents, staff and visitors feel valued and welcome.

We offer term time placements for 48 children between the hours of 9am and 3pm Monday to Friday. Lunch is provided within the school canteen.

We have one playroom which is divided into areas for the children to experience a wide variety of activities. These include the snack area, a carpeted area which includes an interactive whiteboard, role play area, construction, maths, small play, games and story corner. There is a 'messy' area which includes junk modelling, water/sand play, play dough, writing, and an art table. We also have a secure outdoor area which is an extension of the playroom and is a safe area with soft flooring where children can develop their large motor skills and care for plants in the garden.

We regularly visit areas within the school and plan and implement joint learning with the Primary 1 children using Curriculum for Excellence at Early Level.

Learning (added 08/10/21)
We are exploring the topic ‘Things that Move’ where we will be learning about wheels, wings, forces etc. In Literacy, our main experiences and outcomes are; I enjoy exploring and playing with the patterns and sounds of language, and can use what I learn. ‘LIT 0-01a, 11a, 20a. In Numeracy the outcome is; ‘I have explored numbers, understanding that they represent quantities, and I can use them to count, create sequences and describe order’. MNU 0-02a.
Our stories for this topic are Whatever Next by Jill Murphy and Winnie Flys again by Korky Paul and Valerie Thomas. You can help your child at home to develop their love of stories by reading these stories to them, discussing the characters, and encouraging your child to retell the story.
We will continue to share your child’s targets and learning experiences through Learning Journals.  Please log in regularly or download the app to view your child’s targets and see how they are progressing. We love to read your comments and see photos of what your child has been doing at home towards achieving their targets. If you have any problems logging in or viewing targets, please let a staff member know and they will be happy to help.

Toys (added 08/10/21)
Can you please ensure your child either leaves personal toys at home or puts them in their bag prior to entering nursery. This will ensure no one misplaces a treasured toy within the playroom.

Proud Cloud (added 08/10/21)
Thank you to all families who are engaging in our Proud Cloud initiative. This is an excellent opportunity for our children to achieve and progress their skills, particularly independence. Can Proud Cloud booklets please be returned on a Thursday or a Friday each week and they will be reissued on a Monday. Also a reminder that it is just one achievement per week maximum and some achievements might take more than one week to complete. It is important your child achieves their target consistently. If you have any questions please ask.

Data Protection Pack (added 08/10/21)
